Identifikasi Kesalahan Pengerjaan Soal Cerita Matematika Berdasarkan Teori Newman

Identifikasi kesalahan pada penelitian ini berdasarkan rendahnya hasil belajar siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika materi operasi hitung campuran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: 1) jenis kesalahan pada pengerjaan soal cerita matematika berdasarkan teori Newman, 2) faktor penyebab kesalahan pengerjaan soal cerita matematika berdasarkan teori Newman dan 3) solusi untuk meminimalisir kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika materi operasi hitung campuran berdasarkan teori Newman. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Pengambilan data dengan tes dan wawancara. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan metode Newman dimana subjek penelitiannya yaitu 19 peserta didik kelas IV di SDN Joresan. Subjek untuk wawancara diambil 4 dari 19 siswa kelas IV. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan model Milles dan Huberman meliputi pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa: 1) jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika berdasarkan teori Newman yaitu kesalahan dalam memahami masalah, proses transformasi, kemampuan proses dan penulisan jawaban akhir; 2) faktor penyebab kesalahan yang dilakukan yaitu kurangnya memahami maksud dari soal, kurangnya ketelitian siswa dalam mengerjakan operasi hitung khususnya pengurangan dengan metode meminjam dan kurangnya pemahaman siswa terhadap metode pembagian dan 3) solusi untuk meminimalisir kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa yaitu dengan memberikan contoh soal cerita untuk dikerjakan bersama dan memberi motivasi kepada siswa untuk lebih teliti dalam mengerjakan soal cerita matematika.
